Old Tappan Brewing Co. celebrates local “soundside” business and culture with small batch brewing on Long Island’s North Shore. In 2015, Matthew Cryan, a native of Long Island’s North Shore, started Old Tappan Brewing Company. A home brewer for over five years, Matt fell in love with the brewing craft, while maintaining a 12-year career as a Lighting Grip for the New York City Independent Film and Television Industry. Wanting to expand his passion into his new profession, Matthew created Old Tappan Brewing, beginning as a local nano brewery geared toward serving and celebrating the local area he has called home for over 40 years.
Mr. Cryan and colleague, Brent Kunkle, will establish a small brewery in the North Shore focusing on locally sourced ingredients and materials. Old Tappan Brewing Co. will be a celebration of small town business and culture. The brewery name (taken from a popular road in Glen Cove, NY) honors and embraces small town sentiment, while providing its patrons with locally crafted beers they will savor and appreciate.
Matthew Cryan will be Head Brewer of Old Tappan Brewing Company. Long-time comrade, home-brewer, North Shore resident, and film/TV producer, Brent Kunkle, will oversee business operations. The excellent reception and demand for Matt’s hobby beer products have become the catalyst for this venture into the professional brewing industry. We want to meet the needs of current supporters and expand a clientele outside of inner social circles. With quality product, support and a bit of good fortune, Old Tappan Brewing Company aims to be a local brewery that will grow, but never out-grow, the small town heritage that has greatly influenced it.
